Neil Best
Neil Best was a relative late comer to the game, he did not progress through the normal Irish rugby development pathway. Plucked from the obscurity of club rugby in 2003 by then Ulster coach Alan Solomons Neil's impact was immediate, testament to both his ability and durability Neil achieved his 100th cap for Ulster in season 2006/07.
Put simply, Neil Best, is probably one of the hardest men ever to have laced a boot for Ulster. His fearless, abrasive tackling style and aggresive counter rucking have earned him the respect of team mates and opposition alike. A destructive ball carrying back rower with naturally high levels of aerobic fitness Neil Best is comfortable playing at blindside or openside. The consistency of Neil's performances for Ulster led to his debut for Ireland against New Zealand in 2005.
A long time admirer of the physicality of the Guinness Prermiership Neil Best made the decision to join the Northampton Saints for season 2008/09 and instantly became a fans favourite at Franklin's Gardens.
The challenge of helping Worcester regain premiership status lead to Neil Best signing for Worcester for the 2010/11 season. This goal was realised immediatley with the Sixways outfit achieving this goal at the first attempt. |
