Felix Jones
Although primarily a fullback, Felix’s skill set affords him the ability of also playing centre or wing.
Felix played in all of Ireland’s U20 Grand Slam winning games in ’07, earning a full cap with Leinster in February ’08 having spent two years in their academy.
Being selected in the Irish Seven’s Squad for the Rugby World Cup 7’s in Dubai, March ’09, highlights the type of player that Felix is – a very athletic, strong-running back with pace to burn and footwork to match that thrives on open spaces.
That said, his physicality, natural rugby brain, and handling mean that he fulfils excellently the basic requirements of a fullback – defence, positioning, and prowess under a high ball. Felix went on to perform a starring role as fullback for Ireland ‘A’ in their Churchill Cup triumph in Colorado.
A two year contract with Munster followed and although injury has curtailed his game time, he has proven to be a valuable addition to the Munster squad, fitting in seamlessly to the Munster ethos with his affable demeanour and total professionalism, while producing some outstanding individual performances. |
